I read this at a time when I was more than certain in my own mind that I was going out of my mind, so reading this then was a mindfuck.
Great characters inhabit a scary situation in Ken Kesey’s beat-generation classic. Perhaps it’s a beat or two after the beat… If so, one doesn’t feel it’s skipped a beat as it marches to the beat of its own drum!
“Insightful” Review from a Mainstream Reader
Ugh, I just couldn’t do it. I tried, but I just couldn’t. It hurt. It was painful. I*tried* to make it to page 50 for Nancy’s Rule of 50, but I couldn’t even get that far! Page 1, I hated it. Page 12, I still hated it. Page 18, wanted to kill myself. Page 20… What, did this just get better? Oh… no, it didn’t. Page 25, let’s skip a few pages. Page 30…. God, get it away from me! Tossed the book down, and walked away.
The especially sad thing is that I had to wait 2 months for this book from the library. Then by the second night, knew it wasn’t worth it. *sigh*
