What a terrific novel. I’m embarrassed to say that I picked it up because of the cover art, but once I began reading, I read it cover to cover in one sitting.As an English teacher who wrote rock criticism in my youth, I found Never Mind Nirvana satisfied both elements of my background. Witty and literate, Lindquist clearly has an intimate grasp on the Seattle music scene, circa 1990s and of rock in general.I loved the offhand allusions to actual people…almost like historical ficton in some spots.I look forward to reading Lindquist’s other novels.
“Insightful” Review from a Mainstream Reader
I liked the detailed music references, but this novel lacks any depth of character or humor. I would’ve much preferred a historical account of the Seattle scene and forget the trials and tribulations of the pathetic lead character.
