Review from a Transgressive Fiction Fan
Why, oh why did I wait so long to read something by Poppy Z. Brite? I have always known I would like it. Most people have favorable things to say about her. I didn’t know I would love her like I do. I sipped this book. I savored it. When I first started to read it, I gulped it like it was water and I had been wandering the desert. I forced myself to slow down just so it could last as long as possible, like when I have really nice chocolates. There are good authors, and then there are great authors. Poppy Z. is a great author. I could smell this book. I could taste it. I was never frightened. I felt like I was in a beautiful euphoric haze. I can’t wait for my next one.

I can’t finish this book. It disgusts me. I can’t understand the need for tbe filth in what might have otherwise been a good story. Not worth it.
